About My Biome
Welcome. My Biome was born from a deep curiosity about how life thrives — in soil, plants, and the body itself. Good air, pure water, and natural light sustain a garden’s vitality, just as they tend to the DNA within our cells. Through illness, I have learned that health, is not the absence of symptoms. Starting within mouth: the elements of hydration, oxygen, and light come through saliva, correct breathing, and delicious phytonutrients, to illuminate and radiate through our cellular health. Through My Biome, I help others reconnect with this wisdom through simple, joyful, and nourishing practices.
Initiating Whole-Body Health, from the Mouth
I guide people in supporting a healthy, whole-food-based eating pattern that is nutrient-dense, fun, and realistic. By restoring balance to the mouth–gut–body connection, we can support teeth, facial bones, oral microbes, digestion, energy, mood, and overall wellbeing.
Whether you want to halt the progression of a cavity, increase fibre and polyphenols in a plant-based diet while maintaining nutrient density for teeth and bones, or improve energy, mood, and digestion for yourself or your family, the mouth–body connection is a powerful place to start. My Professional Background
My passion for public health began at Guy’s Hospital, London, in 1995. I trained as a dentist in 2000 and worked in the NHS, private practice, and my local oral surgery department. Across all settings, I witnessed conditions that could have been prevented with better diet and lifestyle support, yet time, resources, and the system often didn’t allow it. Seeing children in pain from preventable decay fuelled my determination to make a difference. Motherhood deepened this understanding. Children are constantly exposed to ultra-processed foods and hidden sugar, making it difficult to prepare nutrient-dense meals. I realised I could offer more outside the clinic, creating a path where families could: Increase the diversity of foods for children Support oral microbiomes Nourish oral health holistically Understand the mouth’s connection to overall wellbeing.
My Healing Journey
My approach also comes from personal experience. Facing illness invited me into a deeper relationship with my body — and with the mouth–gut–body connection. Health isn’t a series of symptoms to fix, but an ecosystem to nurture. This journey began through the nervous system, breath, and subtle activations of facial muscles, mouth posture, tongue, and throat — often the foundation of digestion and overall health. Studying nutritional science, fascia, yoga, and breathwork helped me refine a process to fully activate the body’s healing capacity — a process I now share through My Biome.
Mentoring and Community Work
I’ve mentored families and professionals at RHS Wisley Gardens, exploring practical ways to nurture oral and whole-body vitality. I also give talks and workshops at schools, conferences, and food-growing gardens, sharing our grassroots mission and helping professionals bring these principles into their practice. At My Biome, we build community through education and conversation — helping families and professionals apply lifestyle medicine at home in ways that are simple, effective, and sustainable.
